AN INTEGRAL QIGONG INTENSIVE – SESSION 2
WITH: SYDNEY LEIJENHORST

On Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11, 2009, Sydney Leijenhorst will give a Qigong Seminar at KenKon in Wageningen, the Netherlands.

In this weekend Sydney Leijenhorst will share the increasing integral understanding of qigong in an intensive way that suits people with experience in body-mind disciplines like qigong, yoga, dance, etc. Throughout the 25+ years of qigong practice, he slowly started to see more and more similarities between the different forms of qigong he learned; between qigong and other arts such as martial arts, dance, shamanic work or meditation; between qigong and different aspects of life, such as sexuality, dreaming or work. With the help of clear ‘maps’ that have been produced by integral thinkers such as Ken Wilber and others, his qigong teachings were catalyzed towards another wave of integral understanding of this beautiful, interesting and ancient art.

In three separate weekends he will try to offer the essentials of his research and experience in condensed exercise packages and conceptual guidelines for practice. These will contain various elements of qigong practice such as healing movements, relaxation, standing meditation, spontaneous movement, partner exercises, shamanic animal qigong, elemental exercises, energetic meditation, sexual qigong, healing sounds and mantras and breathing exercises.

The weekend will be suitable for people with a qigong, yogic and/or meditative background with an interest in learning and absorbing the practical material (more deeply). It is not a weekend for beginners or people who just want a taste of qigong.

This will be the second in a series of three weekends. Each weekend can be attended on its own. You don’t have to participate in all three. The dates for the next two weekends will be announced at a later stage.

SCHEDULE
Saturday: 10.00 – 21.00 h with lunch and dinner at KenKon included.
Sunday: 10.00 – 17.30 h with lunch at KenKon included.
Partial participation is not possible. That includes coming in late or leaving early.

FOR WHOM?
The seminar will cover basics and advanced topics, that may occasionally be more uncommon, subtle or demanding. More than the basic qigong classes, they require a certain development in subtlety of bodily, emotional and mental awareness; a basic psychological balance; familiarity with or an interest in spontaneous qigong and partner qigong; and a willingness to go deeper into the practices and share one’s thoughts and feelings. As a rough guideline: the weekend will be open to students that have followed at least 1,5 year of regular training in qigong, contemplative dance or yoga bore other body-mind disciplines. Admittance is possible after personal communication and evaluation with Sydney Leijenhorst.
